In the past 2 years, there have been many new obstacles, affecting all non-profit organizations, slowing, or even stopping Fundraising and community service projects. While we were not able to celebrate Fiesta, which is our biggest fundraiser for our scholarship fund, we have tried to remain active in our community.
The General Zaragoza Society, with the help of the Goliad Lions Club, the Goliad County Senior Citizen Center, and the Goliad County Fair Association, provided Covid Vaccines, administered by the National Guard. Providing a vital community service for our community, 7 clinics have been held, with over 800 doses administered.
Our Miss Zaragoza 2021 Queen and her court volunteered their time to help The Parkway Lone Tree Church in Victoria County, with a food distribute project. They had a booth, at the Goliad Scare on the square. The funds raised were used for The Santa's Royal Helpers Christmas project, where a family was chosen to receive a Christmas blessing of gifts. They remained busy preparing for the Christmas in Goliad Lighted parade, and Las Posadas.
The big news! We are looking forward to Cinco De Mayo 2022, coming this May 6,7,8th. Fiesta is back! Once again, we will be providing quality entertainment, numerous food and craft booths, and an IBCA sanctioned BBQ Cookoff. If you have interest in becoming one of our sponsors, contact us. Check back on this website, for updates.

The General Zaragoza Society is well-known for our Cinco de Mayo banquet. This celebration is completely free to the public (free parking, free entertainment and free admission). Our society is named in honor of Ignacio S. Zaragoza, whose victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla is commemorated every year on May 5-Cinco de Mayo.
